Estimate How a Mutual Fund Investment Could Grow

The FYERS Mutual Fund Calculator projects the future value of a mutual fund investment using the amount, investment period and expected annual return entered by you. Use it to compare SIP and one-time scenarios, test different return assumptions and understand the split between invested amount and estimated gains. The output is an illustration, not a promised return. Mutual fund NAVs can rise or fall, and actual results depend on market performance, investment timing, expenses, taxes, loads and the selected scheme. Use realistic scenarios and review the scheme information document, riskometer and portfolio before investing.

Worked Example and Calculation Assumptions

For a one-time investment of ₹1,00,000 at an assumed 10% annual return for five years, annual compounding gives an estimated value of ₹161,051, including ₹61,051 in gains. A SIP projection must compound each monthly instalment for its own investment period. Neither illustration predicts market returns; taxes and exit loads are excluded.

Frequently Asked Questions

A mutual fund calculator is an online tool that estimates the future value of a SIP or lump sum investment using an assumed rate of return and investment period.

The arithmetic is based on the inputs and calculation method, but the outcome is only an estimate. Mutual fund returns are market-linked and can be higher, lower or negative.

Use a reasonable assumption based on the asset category, investment horizon and risk, and test conservative, base and optimistic scenarios. Do not treat recent performance as a guaranteed future return.

Use a return assumption that is consistent with the information you are comparing. Scheme expenses are reflected in NAV-based returns, so deducting them again would double-count them. Exit loads and investor taxes can reduce redemption proceeds; assess these separately using the scheme terms and your circumstances.

A SIP calculation models a series of periodic investments, so each instalment remains invested for a different duration. A lump sum calculation models one amount invested from the start.

Yes. Mutual fund NAVs depend on the underlying portfolio and market conditions. Capital loss is possible, especially over shorter periods or in higher-risk categories.

Yes. FYERS supports direct mutual fund investments through SIP and one-time modes on its App and Web, subject to scheme availability, eligibility and completion of the required account and KYC steps.

Compare the contribution schedule as well as the final value. A SIP invests in stages, while a lumpsum is invested from the start. Use the same time horizon and return assumption, and check total contributions before comparing projected gains.
