Estimate Fixed Deposit Interest and Maturity Value

The FYERS Fixed Deposit Calculator estimates the interest earned and maturity amount for a deposit using the principal, annual interest rate, tenure and compounding frequency entered by you. It helps compare how different rates or tenures may change the outcome before you book an FD. The result is indicative. Actual maturity proceeds depend on the bank or institution’s product terms, compounding method, payout option, day-count convention, premature-withdrawal rules, taxes and the rate applicable on the booking date. Verify the final quote with the deposit-taking institution.

Worked Example and Calculation Assumptions

Illustration only: ₹1,00,000 at 7% a year for two years, with quarterly compounding and interest retained, produces approximately ₹114,888 at maturity. Estimated gross interest is ₹14,888. Divide the annual rate by four and compound over eight quarters. The rate is hypothetical, not a current issuer offer; taxes and early-withdrawal adjustments are excluded.

Frequently Asked Questions

An FD calculator estimates fixed deposit interest and maturity value from the deposit amount, interest rate, tenure and compounding frequency.

For a cumulative FD, interest is generally compounded at the frequency specified by the institution. A simple model is maturity value = principal x (1 + rate/compounding periods) raised to total compounding periods.

A cumulative FD reinvests interest and generally pays it with principal at maturity. A non-cumulative FD pays interest periodically, so its cash-flow and compounding outcome differ.

No. A gross interest estimate does not establish your net proceeds. Applicable TDS, income tax, payout choices and premature-withdrawal adjustments can affect what you receive. Check the issuer’s maturity quotation and your tax position separately.

It can. The institution may apply a lower rate for the actual tenure and a premature-withdrawal penalty. Check the deposit terms before booking or breaking an FD.

No financial product is entirely risk-free. Eligible deposits with an insured bank are covered by DICGC up to the applicable limit, currently ₹5 lakh per depositor per bank in the same right and capacity, including principal and interest.

Many institutions offer an additional rate to eligible senior citizens, but the rate and conditions vary. Enter the rate actually offered to you and verify eligibility with the institution.

Yes. You can invest in fixed deposits from available banks and NBFCs through FYERS App or Web, subject to the issuer’s eligibility, KYC and product requirements. FYERS facilitates access; the selected institution issues the FD. Available issuers and deposit terms may change.
