Symbols

Use this category whenever a company, index, expiry or strike needs to be converted to the exact FYERS instrument symbol. FYERS symbols include an exchange prefix; a guessed or expired contract may fail with invalid-symbol code -300.

Daily symbol masters for NSE, BSE and MCX are available at https://public.fyers.in/sym_details/. They include instrument identifiers, lot sizes, tick sizes, expiry and token fields. Find the instrument in the relevant master, then use the returned ticker in the API request. For example, NSE:SBIN-EQ is an equity symbol and NSE:NIFTY50-INDEX is an index data symbol.

The trading skill provides fyers_symbols.py for search, instrument details and refresh. Weekly and monthly derivative symbols use different formats, so master lookup is the reliable path.
