Discontinuation of Mutual Funds Collateral With Effect From 1st April 2022

As per the circular dated 4th October 2021, The Securities and Exchange Board of India has announced the discontinuation of usage of pool accounts for transactions in units of Mutual Funds on the Stock Exchange Platforms with effect from 1st April 2022.

As a result, the following points are in effect from today:

  • All the mutual funds pledged for getting additional margins to trade in the F&O segment will be unpledged.
  • Mutual Funds will not be accepted for pledge.
  • Clients are to bring in cash equal to the mutual funds collateral margin utilized for the existing open positions. Else, the RMS will act upon and reduce/square off the open position/s.
