MCX and NCDEX remain closed on certain national and regional holidays. The holidays are often divided into two categories:
Full Day Holidays – Both morning and evening sessions are closed.
Partial Holidays – Only the morning or evening session is closed, depending on the occasion.

MCX operates in two sessions throughout the trading day:

Agri-commodity contracts may have different session timings on NCDEX.
During Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes in international markets, MCX may adjust its evening session end time.
On Saturdays, only the morning session is usually active (till 2:00 PM), and on Sundays, markets remain closed.
MCX may close only the morning or evening session depending on the timing of a public or religious holiday. For example, on Diwali (Laxmi Pujan), only the evening session is closed while the morning session operates normally.

No, you cannot place orders on MCX during a holiday or when the market session is closed. However, you may be able to modify or cancel pending orders when the system is in offline mode, subject to broker policies.
