What is an MCP?
You might be wondering what an MCP (Model Context Protocol) even is.
You can just think of it as a secure bridge or a translator. It's the software that lets an AI (like Claude) safely ask a data source (like your FYERS account) for information, and then translates that data so the AI can understand it.
The Difference: A Real Example
This is what happens when your AI model has context.
Without MCP, you ask: "Am I over-exposed to any single stock through my MFs and direct holdings?" The AI says: "I cannot access your personal brokerage account. Please download your statements..."
With MCP, you ask the same question. The AI answers: "Yes. You hold 100 shares of HDFC Bank directly. I've also analysed your MF holdings. Your 'ABC Bluechip Fund' has an 8.5% weight in HDFC Bank. Your total effective exposure to the stock is X. You may want to review this."
The AI can connect the dots between your stock Holdings and your MF Holdings. It can do this because MCP gives it a secure, read-only view of your account:
Your Account & Portfolio: The AI can see your Funds (your balance, margin available), your Holdings (stocks, ETFs, MFs), and all your Positions (intraday and F&O). This lets you ask real questions about your money, like, “Am I over-exposed to the IT sector across all my stocks and mutual funds?”
Live Market & Option Chain: We connect your AI to live market data, including the full Option Chain and deep Historical Data for analysis. An AI that can't see the market is useless. This lets you ask, “Scan the Nifty option chain for the highest OI buildup, and then check my open positions to see if I'm hedged for that level.”
Your Orders & Activity: It can see your Orders (Open, closed, GTTs), your Trade Book, your Watchlists, and your Price Alerts. This gives it context. You can ask, “Look at my 'Planning' watchlist and tell me which of those stocks are trading above their 50-day moving average.”
How to Get Started
We built this for traders, not just developers. We handled all the technical stuff in a simple installer.
1. For Most Users (with Claude)
This is the fastest way to get started.
Run it. It'll get everything ready and even install the Claude Desktop app for you.
Open Claude. In the chat, just type login and hit enter.
The official FYERS login window will pop up. Log in as you always do.
That's it. You're connected.
2. For Coders (with Cursor)
If you use Cursor, you'll be set up in one minute.
Go to Settings > MCP & Integrations.
Click Add New MCP Server.

What's the Difference Between FIA, FIA GPT, and MCP?
I know this can be confusing, so here’s a simple breakdown.
FIA: This is our built-in assistant, right inside the FYERS App, Web, and Trader. It's the fastest, most integrated way to get insights on the go.
FIA GPT: This is our custom GPT for the OpenAI's GPT store. It's a great tool for combining general market analysis and research with ChatGPT's capabilities.
FYERS MCP (What this post is about): This is the secure bridge or "engine" that powers this new level of connection. MCP is the core technology that allows other AI tools, like Claude or Cursor, to safely connect to your personal FYERS account.

Is It Safe? (The Most Important Question)
Yes. We designed this with a clear security boundary.
It cannot execute trades. It cannot move your funds.
Here is the breakdown:
It CAN: Analyse your holdings, fetch market data, create/modify watchlists, and manage your price alerts.
It CANNOT: Place, modify, or cancel orders. It can only read your order history.
It CANNOT: Add or withdraw your funds. It can only read your balance.
It’s built for insight, analysis, and monitoring. It is not built for execution. It all runs through our official, secure FYERS login, and you are always in control.
An AI is only useful if it has good information. FYERS MCP gives your AI the context it's missing.
