Missing cmd object in json in pre-opening data for quote api endpoint

For many months now, infact since oct or nov 2022, there is a lot of missing data that is random in nature when trying to fetch pre-open data.

While calling the quote api with multiple tickers, on some days you can get all correct data and on other days 4-5 tickers with 9:07 data while the rest are all empty. only the previous day data is included in it.

I am fetching the between 9:08:00 and 9:10:00 and tried different times but this isn’t the issue upto 9:14:00am

The quote api has “cmd” which gives the last 1-min candle data and use to work fine earlier. Now it is just random between 5 and 50 quotes which maybe correct or not having pre-open price.

The issue has been reported and followed-up but it is still not resolved.

Hi @chirag ,

The “CMD” (Current minute candle) in the quotes API will only be returned during pre-market if there is a change in volume. Otherwise, it will not be included in the response.

@ZppA1qLXjC so what is a reliable way of retrieving pre-open price after the session is closed but before normal mkt open?

  • I still dont understand why the rest of the data in previous close is previous day.
  • Also by change in volume means the 7th minute because most of the time even RIL, TCS etc also dont return equilibrium price.
  • The request if made after 9:08 also has random data, but technically volume is 0 as nothing traded but why do we still have some scrips with correct pre-open price ?

I can do that but what is the reliable way to get the price of scrips after pre-open? You can also try fretching Quotes from 9:07 to 9:08am or later and see. Challenge is to test in real-time in short period.

This is what you need to check, when there is NO CMD object, current day close “lp” is NOT current day but is actually Previous DAY, and where there is “prev_close_price” it is not Previous day but the day before.

If i call Quote right now 8:30PM on 25-JUL, “lp” is returning Last close of 24-JUL and “prev_close_price” contains 21-JUL Same thing is experienced after pre-open session where CMD object is not present.

@chirag If there are no changes in the Last Traded Price (LTP) in pre-market, it will display the LTP from the previous day, and the Previous Close value will also remain unchanged. Please note that the data will be updated once the market starts

ok, so lets go to moot point. What is the reliable way to get pre-open price after the pre-open session closes and before market open? like it comes here Pre-Open Market, Stock Market Watch - NSE India

I have called Quote api today 25-JUL at 9:05:13am, 09:06:35am, 09:07:28am, 09:08:31am

You can see the logs here and how the data is inconsistent. There are 5 test scrips ASIANPAINT,HDFCBANK,RELIANCE, SBIN,TCS. Data again as i said when CMD object is not present returns previous day, and 2 days ago.
