Bug Report: NATGASMINI Options Payoff Chart Syncing with Incorrect Futures Expiry

Hi everyone,

I want to highlight a syncing issue I’ve been facing with the options strategy builder on the FYERS platform, specifically with NATGASMINI.

While analyzing a November month options strategy (e.g., 300 CE and 300 PE for 20 Nov), the payoff chart is pulling the October futures price instead of the corresponding November futures price.

As you can see in the attached screenshot:

The main ticker correctly shows the Nov Futures price at 289.6.

However, the LTP inside the Payoff section displays 240.8, which is the October futures price.

This pricing mismatch completely skews the payoff analysis and makes it difficult to understand the true risk and reward of the strategy.

Has anyone else noticed this issue while trading MCX commodity derivatives?

@FYERS_TeamFYERS_TeamFYERS_TeamFYERS_Team – Could you please look into this and resolve the contract syncing issue? Accurate payoff charts are crucial for strategy execution and risk management.

Thanks!

Hi @113186784791901686336 ,
We understand the concern and the behaviour is currently as follows: For payoff, we keep the underlying price as the reference price in the Payoff, you can see this is Nifty in case of Nifty options, Sensex for sensex options etc. In this case Natgas mini dont have a underlying price directly, So the closest is the nearest oct Futures price. The ability to change this price is an assumption of the physical price of the commodity changing and you can simulate the same.

But we understand your concern, let us know any suggestions you’d like to see.

Thank you for the clarification, but the current system behavior described is technically incorrect for commodity options trading.

While Natural Gas (NATGASMINI) may not have a cash spot index, it trades across distinct monthly futures contracts (October, November, December, etc.). When a trader analyzes or executes an option contract expiring in November (e.g., NATGASMINI 20 Nov 2026 options), the underlying reference price must map to the matching November futures contract, not the October futures contract.

Using the October futures price as the reference for November options creates a severe pricing and payoff distortion. November options derive their value, delta, and moneyness from November futures, not October futures. Pulling an expiring or different-month contract’s price completely breaks the risk-reward and breakeven calculations in the Strategy Builder.

Suggestion for Fix:

The Payoff calculator and Strategy Builder must dynamically map option contracts to their respective expiry month’s futures contract (i.e., November options should reference November futures LTP, not default to October futures).

Please escalate this to the product and tech team to fix this contract mapping/syncing bug for MCX commodity derivatives.
