How to use technical charts on FYERS ONE

best online stock trading sites

Technical charts are a graphical representation of the prices and volumes in a given period of time. It is probably the easiest way to keep track of the stock markets. Whether it is to trade, invest or simply observe, technical analysis of stocks is the most efficient way to keep yourself updated and plan your trading activities. The stock market today has been the same as it always has been. Money flows, correlations and sentiments play a significant role in short-term trading. Knowing that, it is important that you are on the right side to consistently make money in the stock market using technical analysis. On Fyers One, you use charts like a pro. Read on to know more.

1q

“Right click” on a scrip and select “Chart”. In this example, we shall use Nifty Futures to demonstrate the available features on our trading platform. The first look of the Nifty live chart is as shown below.

2q

Timeframes – You can view intraday charts and end of day charts in the same window. For intraday, the available timeframes available are:
• 1 minute charts
• 5 minute charts
• 10 minute charts
• 15 minute charts
• 30 minute charts
• 60 minute charts
• Custom

The flexibility of having to choose from the variety gives you the edge to track the intraday movements in the stock market.

3q

The end of day charts can be viewed in the following timeframes:
• Daily
• Weekly
• Monthly

The image shown above is of 4 different screenshots which shows you the different timeframes (Example: Nifty futures) namely, intraday, daily, weekly and monthly.

4q

Zoom – You can zoom into any part of the chart of the chart to focus on the details of the price action. This feature is designed to be functionally convenient. The way to use it is:
• Zoom in – Scroll upward with the mouse or click on the ”+” icon in the highlighted region of the window as shown above.
• Zoom out – Scroll downward with the mouse or click on the “-“ icon in the highlighted region window as shown above.
• Reset Zoom – You can either click on the last icon in the highlighted region of the window as shown above. The chart will become resized according to the default settings.
• Selective Zoom – The yellow region in the live Nifty future chart shows the area which is selected. This feature allows you to select a portion of the chart and zoom into that particular area. It is very useful for intraday traders who are observing the price action very closely to improve their accuracy in technical analysis and possibly forecast the stock trends better.

5q

For example, the image above shows you the result of what the Selective Zoom looks like. In this case it shows you the intraday chart and price action of Nifty futures. Short-term traders will especially find this feature useful. In a way, you can also practice paper trading on live charts if you’re willing to put some efforts to manually calculate your paper trading performance.

6q

Price Info. – You can get the price information of the scrip you’re tracking by clicking on the box at the top right hand corner of the chart window. As shown in the highlighted box No.1, as you scroll along the chart, the prices will reflect accordingly. An additional way of doing it is by pressing the left button on the mouse and dragging it along the chart. A temporary box will appear that will display the price information. See Box No. 2. As you can see the prices of Nifty futures are the same in both the boxes shown above.

Information provided in this feature are:
• Opening price
• Closing price
• Day high
• Day low
• Volume
• Date and;
• Time

7q

Technical Indicators – You can choose from over 65 indicators on Fyers One. You can load multiple indicators on the chart at the same time to analyse chart patterns and gauge the stock trends when they matter most. You can change the display size of each indicator for visual appeal too. You can apply more than 5 different technical indicators at the same time.

A mention of some popular indicators that are available are:
• MACD – Moving Average Convergence Divergence.
• RSI – Relative Strength Index
• Bollinger Bands
• Supertrend Indicator
• Parabolic SAR
• Ichimoku
• Heiken Ashi etc.

8q

Correlation Analysis – Imagine you have a basket of 20 stocks and all of them have a high positive correlation. What happens when the stock market goes down? Everything goes down and reveals that the portfolio mix was inefficient. Correlation is very important. But so far, there was no easy way to measure performances of different stocks. On Fyers One, you can load a chart and compare its performance with any index or stock.

To use the feature, click on C and select “Indices”. You will get a popup of all the available indices on NSE. Choose any index and click on “OK”.

9q

In the example shown above, Nifty future has been compared with Nifty IT and Nifty Energy indices. As you can see, since October last year, the energy sector has performed relatively better than IT and the overall market as you can see from the Nifty chart comparison.

10q

To compare with different scrips (stocks/futures/options etc.), just click on “Symbol” as shown above. You will get a popup window where you can select from all the available scrips and click on “Add”.

11q

You can select multiple stocks for a relative comparison of performance. In the example above, you can see that Nifty chart is being used for a comparison against Reliance Industries & HDFC Bank.
As you can see, HDFC Bank has outperformed Nifty in the given timeframe and Reliance Industries has subsequently underperformed but is slowly catching up.

The study of correlations can add the third dimension to your stock analysis. You can develop great intraday trading strategies or even a strong conviction on the stock markets over the long term.

12q

Hide/Show Symbols – You can choose to keep the symbol navigation or hide it as per your convenience. As you can see above the screenshot on the right has a bigger display of the Nifty chart.

13q

Studies/Technical analysis tools – Upon clicking on the “S” button as shown in the image above, you can get access to all the drawing tools, Fibonacci levels and other features that can be used to conduct technical analysis of stocks professionally.

The list of tools include:
• Types of charts (Line, HLC, OHLC and candlestick charts)
• Resistance and Support Levels
• Drawing tools
• Fibonacci Levels (Retracements, Arcs & Time zones)
• Gann Lines
• Quad lines
• Raff Regression etc.

    Hi,

I want to add multiple EMA’s on my chart.. for ex 20 ema, 50 ema and 200 ema… I see i can add only 1 ema… How do i add multiple ema’s and how do i also modify colours whenever i want to modify them for the ema’s or for that matter any other indicator.
I want to do this in the WORKSPACE – ADV CHART WORKSPACE wherein there is my watchlist on the left and charts on the right

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

      3. Double EMA
      4. Triple EMA
      5. MA with EMA Cross

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hi Vishwanath Uppala, Here’s how to do it:
      1. Right click on a chart.
      2. Go to “View”.
      3. Select the last option, “Customize Colors.”

How to remove pivot lines from fyers one

  • Avatar Sandeep Singh says:

Thanks for writing this article it is very helpful for me. Earlier I was finding it difficult to use the Technical chart on Fyers One.

  • Avatar Madan says:

I am a huge fan of tradingview platform and the only disadvantage to me was no FnO data on it. To my luck I found “Fyers web” powered by tradingview with the FnO data. Signed up last year and thoroughly enjoining this very stable, reliable, efficient and yet affordable platform services.

I want to thank you Tejas. You have transformed my trading to the next level. No more worries on charting and data inaccuracy issues (with the earlier platform I used from one of your competitors) and I focus on building strategies to trade efficiently. My trades don’t happen without Fyers web.
I am currently exploring the “Fyers One” heat map, FnO Analysis and the Live screener to see if it can assist my scrip selection process.

Now, coming to my asks. I see a few fellow traders have already put in this request to you. This is me insisting on a few of them again:

    1. We really need that pivot points on the “Fyers Web”. I am aware this is on your to-do list. Please expedite. PP is the only reason I have to look into other platforms. An expected date for this availability on the platform would be very appreciated.

    2. A cosmetic change that I would like is to have the Fyers web ability to switch background theme from Light to Dark. This is already available on the tradingview platform.

    3. When I draw up an indicator, for example a EMA, I want to be able to increase the thickness of the line to have better visibility. Again this is available on the tradingview platform. Just a matter of adopting this feature I hope?

If these features are going to cost me additional bucks, i don’t mind you bumping the annual subscription fee.

Overall, kudos for your efforts in bringing fyers web to us. Look forward to hear from you.

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hi Madan, Firstly thank you for recognizing our work! Our focus on data is only increasing with each passing day. Soon, we will be working on a watchlist which shows F&O data of all NSE scrips. Will write about this later. Please feel free to tell your trader friends about us too. We aim to cater to all the traders in India who are looking for a quality platform to transact on.

      1. Yes, I know pivot points are very important and we are already in touch with TradingView for that. They have not yet done it for some internal reasons but we are constantly in touch with them to get it done along with some other feature requests. Until now, our focus was heavily on efficient data management. We expect this to happen soon.

      2. Yes, this has been requested by us too. Currently, nobody using their APIs is given this access however since we have a special arrangement with them, they will do this in the near future.

      3. This too. We have already engaged and made the necessary requests.

TradingView is a front-end charting library (Much like the cover of a book). The features you asked for are mostly pertaining to that. Will get this done. The speed of data, data accuracy, order management, trades, holdings, RMS, funds etc. are integrated into it. Hope all that has been just fine for you. We’ll keep you informed about the costs. Currently, we don’t have any plans of charging subscriptions fees.

    Hi,

I’m new to Fyers & just got my client id. I joined Fyers only by looking at the wonderful platform “Fyers One” you guys have offered to the public. Thanks for that. Have a couple of queries/ suggestions.

    1. I wanted to know whether do we have a “Replay” of the charts in Fyers One platform (Like we have Bar Replay function in Amibroker)? If not, then please add this functionality and this will add another feather to the cap.

    2. I saw something as “Signals” in Fyers One. This is loaded with some default strategies like Stochastic Cross over, MACD crossover etc.,. I feel that this “Signals” functionality can be made better by giving the traders the privilege to customize it as required for their strategy i.e. Let the trader develop the Signals as per their strategy. For ex.

a If a trader wants to use the Signal function based on his/ her strategy, then the trader should be able to select the indicator of their choice
    b. Change the parameters of the indicators as per their strategy
    c. Give all the conditions as per their strategy/choice (in case the strategy of multiple conditions)
    d. Customize the Buy Sell arrow colors

So, once all the conditions are met, then let the Signal function generate the Buy / Sell arrow and display on the chart.

    3. Right now to delete a study, we need to select the study and press the DELETE button on the keyboard. Do add a “Remove Study” button on the chart or in the Right click of the mouse button.

    Thanks
    Tej

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hi Tej, Thanks for appreciating our platform.

      1. This feature is exclusive to tradingview.com. It will be made available based on their internal policies.

      2. Yes, we have thought of doing this but until we finish up our existing pipeline of developments we won’t be able to take this up. But be rest assured, once we do launch this, you will be happy about how it works. This is what we aim to achieve when we launch any feature.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to write your feedback. We have noted it.

  • Avatar Aakash Naik says:

Hi. I am interested to open an account in Fyers. I am using Zerodha but it hangs every so often during Trending/Volatile hours/days. Fed up of this issue, be it Pi or Kite. After failed trade executions or losses incurred i get an apologising email eod, which is not at all acceptable. Long story short :-
    1. Does Fyers have “Fractal Chaos Bands” and OBV indicators?
    2. if Yes then do all platforms have it- Mobile/PC app/Web? and
    3. I hope any of the platforms doesnt hang during High Volatile Hours/days?
I downloaded the iOS app for demo but it doesnt allow to check chart features in guest login. Please note that im being very specific about “Fractal Chaos Bands”, do not confuse it with williams fractals or fractal oscillator or anything else. Thanking in advance for reply.

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hello Aakash, Thanks for writing to me. I understand that it can be painful for traders. Here’s what we have so far:

      1. Yes, we do have OBV indicator. We do have Williams Fractal, not “Fractal Chaos Bands”. We haven’t received such a request before TBH.
      2. Currently, all our efforts are focused on Fyers Web. So you can expect all our latest developments here. The mobile app has the same charts.
      3. Stability is the No. 1 priority at FYERS. We haven’t experienced any significant down-time during volatile days so far. In fact, we are heavily invested to ensure that our platforms are always up.

Do check out Fyers Web, you might really like to trade on it. We’ve been doing a lot and optimizing it on a very regular basis.

      • Avatar Aakash Naik says:

Great to know about stability. Honestly you won a user with your quick reply. But may i please request you to look into adding FCB indicator. Its very good indicator with so far best success rates for me and my friends for intraday/swing trading setup. In confluence with OBV it gives better signals and lets us know on fake breakouts as well. I dont know if i m asking too much. but please look into adding it. I am used to it. its one of my best ammunition in the market. Soon i will be a Fyers user for stability part. But FCB will be an icing on the cake.

Can i have a demo (as guest login) of Fyers Web? Link for demo or Video tutorial may be?

      • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hi Aakash, Hope you had a good weekend. What we’ll do is put your request in our “To-Do list” and pursue it when we take up the next round of updates with regards to the indicators. We’ll try doing it as soon as possible. Also, for this, we have to directly work with TradingView since this component requires their involvement.

Yes, you can get a guest user login. Please get in touch with us by leaving your details here – https://fyers.in/open-an-account/

how to set horizontal and vertical line in chart in Fyers one?

  • Avatar Sanjeev says:

Please tell me how to view 15 min historical chart. I am only getting about 15 days chart of 15 min candles.

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

On Fyers One, you’ll have to choose 1 hour charts and then choose 15 minutes chart. The charting library has some limitations. If you want a seamless experience, I suggest you use the charts on Fyers Web. We have addressed all the concerns that traders had with regards to charts. Also, we have 20+ years of historical EOD data and 9+ months of historical intraday data.

      • Avatar Bhushan says:

Sir I have just joined the Fyers as new customer. Kindly guide me on how to scroll through the charts. both intraday and EOD in FYERS ONE.

      • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hi Bhushan, Thanks for writing. Here’s what you’ll have to do:

        1. Fyers Web: Just scroll. We hve over 10+ months of intraday historical data.

        2. Fyers One: Choose the 1 hour timeframe, then click on 5 minutes and scroll backward. We have 1 month of historical data on Fyers Web.

  • Avatar Prashant kamble says:

Is stochastic rsi indicator available in fyers?

  • Avatar Anand Krishnamurthy says:

I’m referring a lot of them to Fyers… only thing i need right is now is Pivot Points on Fyers Web and i’m happy. All my indicators are available. I love you guys and you can expect at least a 100 referrals coming from my side. Thats a promise #fyers-the-best

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Thanks Anand! Please do. More referrals/clients will enable us to accelerate our pace of developments. We have already taken up the issue of pivot points with TradingView and it will be resolved at the earliest. Yes, I know it has taken sometime but if it was in our control, we would’ve implemented it long ago. The charting features are provided by them and we are working with them to ensure it is done at the earliest. Please stay tuned!

  • Avatar Rohit Dwivedi says:

can you please tell me how to save technical tools and indicators on charts in FYERS One?

  • Avatar Dilip says:

Your charts have the best features on Fyers Web but the screeners are better in Fyers One. It would be amazing if you can introduce the screeners on Fyers Web.

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Yes, all our current developments are focused on the web platform. Wait till we roll out the next release. Post that, we’ll work on something that many people have been asking for.

  • Avatar Amey Chaudhari says:

Is there any way I can use drawing tools using keyboard shortcuts? It is really painful to always hover your mouse to the toolbar just to draw a small line on the chart. It just takes more than average time to draw trend lines and mark small things if I have to hover my mouse to the tool bar. Why aren’t there any shortcuts which work only on chart window???

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Well, the charting front-end mechanism does not have that functionality. Moreover, if more people ask for it, them maybe we can make that available on Fyers Web. But most people prefer to use the mouse over keyboard shortcuts.

  • Avatar Himmu says:

    hi Tejas
    Gr8 platform and gr8 idea .

Can we have our own custom indicators in fyers platform ? or is it possible to customize indicators ? like how it is in tradingview they have an editor called pine . Does fyers support algo trading ?

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hello Himmu, Thanks! Yes you can customize indicators on Fyers Web: https://trade.fyers.in/. Pinescript is not available and also the script is known to have a higher learning curve. Algo trading will take time but its in our roadmap for sure. Currently, the regulatory framework is a hurdle for algorithmic trading so it’s not on the top of our list.

      • Avatar Ashok says:

Pine editor will be available in future?

      • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hi Ashok, PineScript is a proprietary language of TradingView which is exclusively reserved for their clients. We don’t have any plans on adding it on our platform in the foreseeable future. This is FYI.

  • Avatar JYOTIPRAKASH PAL says:

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hello Jyotiprakash, Thanks for appreciating us. We have received feedback about the same. Going forward, we will introduce this on Fyers Web in the near future. However, we have pivot points available in Fyers One (Desktop trading platform).

how to add “Awesome Oscillator, Renko Charts”

  • Avatar Hriday says:

    dear sir,
i use fyers one trading platform. it an awesome platform.
But i want to highlight that when i use candle chart and input a custom interval the first candle of the day which is generated is not of the duration which i’ve inputted. Example if i input 120 minutes the first candle is from 9:15-10:00. Second candle starts from 10:00 to 12:00.
But due to the first candle whole chart gets distorted. The same problem is there with 60 minute candle which is 9:15-10:00 rather than 9:15-10:15.
    Please look into this.

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Glad you like our platform. Yes, we’ve got this feedback a few days ago. Will revert in a bit.

  • Avatar Ram says:

Do you have super for the TTM squeeze indicator in the charts. This is relatively new compared to moving averages, Bollinger bands etc and hence asking this specifically before venturing into your platform.

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

No we don’t Ram. I don’t know if that’s too popular. We’ll look into it once we launch Fyers Web in a few days.

      • Avatar RAmesh says:

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Sudheer, this depends on preferences. I personally like to keep with simple with Stochastics, MACD, Bollinger Bands & candlestick patterns. Although each one has their own preferences, the idea is to get clarity with few indicators. Overcrowding can lead to confusion.

  • Avatar Aadarsh says:

very nice charts sir. Only one suggestion is that you need to is introduce the exact number on horizontal line.

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hi Mukesh, Somehow missed your comment. I have added this suggestion to the queue of things to do. Will certainly try to make this possible in the future.

  • Avatar Reji Chacko says:

I was reading your blog about “Correlation Analysis” . Can you tell me more about this process? I wasn’t able to understand the concept.

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Reji, Correlation analysis helps you understand risk. For instance, if you invest in 10
stocks which are all in the same sector, the chances are that they will move in the same
direction. But what happens if the sector/industry collapses changes? All your investments
will get affected in a similar way. As an investor, you should avoid being overexposed to
high correlation because if some of your investments go against you, most likely that others
will follow. Fyers One helps you to visually compare how stocks are correlated so that you can
make smarter decisions and diversify accordingly.

  • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hi Niranjan, we don’t really suggest trading strategies. However,
if you want to learn you can get some books from our recommended reading.

  • Avatar Nirenjan Chakraborthy says:

I’ve tried the charts in Fyers One.
Can you suggest some good Intraday Strategies to start off with?
