How to place buy orders on Fyers One

To place a buy order in the trading terminal, choose the scrip you want to buy and press F1.
Once you press F1, the buy order window will open up at the bottom of the screen as shown below.
The window is colour coded in blue.

1e

The highlighted section shows you the details of the scrip that you have selected to buy. You could quickly reconfirm this at a glance (In this case its NIFTY futures expiring on 25/02/2016). You could also change the scrips as you want from here. You could change the scrip, the segment from equity to derivatives, futures to options and vice versa.

2e

Then you’ll need to select between limit/market order. Just to give you quick info, if you choose market, your order will be executed at the current market price (CMP).

3e

However, upon choosing limit, you can determine at what price you want to buy by entering it manually. This gives traders and investors the control of the purchase price.

4e

Next, you’ll have to fill the quantity that you want to buy. By default, the quantity will be set at the minimum value (As in this case it shows the minimum quantity for NIFTY futures is 75 = 1 lot). You can modify it by clicking on the arrow buttons or by typing the quantity manually.

5e

Once that’s done, you will need to select Margin/intraday. Let me give you a brief description:
Margin – It refers to positions that you intend to carry overnight (for tomorrow).
Intraday – It refers to positions that you intend to close today (sell by end of today).
CNC – (Not displayed here) stands for Cash N Carry. It refers to the equity segment. So if you want to buy shares of a company for a day or more (overnight), you’ll have to choose this option otherwise the order will get rejected due to mismatch of product type.

If you choose the product type as Intraday, you will get higher leverage to trade for the day depending on the scrip. If in case, you do not sell the scrip by the end of the day, it will get automatically squared off before the closing hours of the market.

6e

Default validity is chosen as Day. What they mean?
Day – It means your will be valid before the closing hours of the market.
IOC – Stands for Immediate Or Cancel. It means the order will be cancelled if it does not get filled immediately. It isn’t viable for retail traders.

7e

Trigger Price – It is applicable only when you’re placing a stop loss order to buy back/close out your short positions.
Disclosed Quantity – When the buy quantity is large, this feature allows you disclose only what you want to disclose in the order book of the stock exchange. The purpose is to hide your total quantity as a risk management measure.
Pro/Cli (Proprietary/Client) – Clients will be able to place orders only by selecting “Cli”. It is chosen by default to avoid any inconvenience.

8e

Once you finish filling in all the required details, click on “Submit”.

9e

Lastly, you will receive a system generated re-confirmation. Click on “OK” to send the order to the exchange. You can check the status of the order by clicking on “Trade” in the main menu and choosing “Order Book” or just by pressing the shortcut key F3.

10e

The Order Book window shows you all the details you need to know about the trade.

11e

Here it shows, that 75 quantity (1 lot) of NIFTY futures February was purchased at the market price. It also shows the order numbers, the date and time of execution.

    Hi sir,
    1. I couldn’t place after market order on Fyers one. Is it not available or I couldn’t find it?

    2. when I place an order in CNC order. There are 4 order types available.

2.1 limit- the order will be placed in the price I give.

2.2 market- the order will be placed in the market price.

2.3 SL-L – I assume it is stop loss to limit. so if I place a limit order for buying x stock for INR 34.00 and give trigger price as 33.5. After the stock is bought. the stock will be sold if reaches 33.5. am I right sir? and as it is CNC order. the stop loss will be valid for N number of days I hold. like the stock will be sold if it reaches 33.5 even after one weak from my buy date?

2.4 SL-M – I assume this is stop loss to market. In this, the stock will be bought at the market price and the trigger price should be the difference between current market price and the trigger price? like the current market price of the stock is 36.00. I place an sl-m order with a trigger price of 2.00. the order will be placed in current market price and it will be sold if it falls 2 rupees from current market price at 34?

sir, I am a newbie. I am sorry if my questions are too basic. I will highly appreciate your reply. Thank you. Please tell me if any of my above statements or assumptions are wrong.

      Hi Saravana,

      1. It is possible to place AMOs on Fyers One. If you are not able to find it, get in touch with our support team at support@fyers.in

      2. Yeah, the order types are there to provide you a range of choices.

      2.1. That’s right.

      2.2. That’s right.

2.3. You mean a buy limit order at 343 and a stop loss trigger at 33.5? Yes, that’s right. The Stop loss is only valid for the day. This is because the exchanges do not allow Good Till Cancel (GTC) orders.

2.4. The trigger price is the price at which you want the order to get executed. However, it will get executed at the prevailing market price. If you buy a stock at 36 and place an SL-M Trigger at 34, then your order will be executed at the market when the price reaches 34. If you place 2, then it will get executed when the price reaches 2. Of course, please remember that this is for normal orders and not bracket orders. To learn more about SL & target functionality using bracket orders, please read our posts on Brainstorm (Blog).

Hi Prashant, we have disabled the take profit order. You can use cover orders instead for the time being. The latest update from our side is that we are working on launching bracket orders.

My experience on fyers one is great. Its order execution speed is preety good. And its full of features. Only thing i miss is one click buy and sell as in your web platform . I request you to please include onle click buy and sell as in fyers web in fyers one also. It will be very helpful in scalp trading

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hi Kalpana, Yes, but we have introduced Buy & Sell buttons above the chart, but it is not one-click due the kind of application that Fyers One is. Currently, most of our energy is focused on developing Fyers Web and introducing new features on it. We’re glad you like our platform.

    Hello Tejas !
Sorry to say but I didn’t understand what you want to say regarding bandwidth utilization and 30 scrips. Can you please.. explain in detail.
    Thank You ..

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Naman, if you add too many scrips the application might run slower on your system because it has to fetch live data from the server. This could be one reason why you faced the issue. Also, if you’re running multiple applications on your computer, the response time can be delayed. Hence, I suggest you have lesser than 30 scrips on your watchlist and avoid running other trading/heavy applications simultaneously.

  • Avatar Naman says:

    Hello Tejas !
I was long in Vedanta (in Fyers web) with quantity = 1. I decided to square off my open position so I clicked the flatten button. Then panel appeared saying that the order had been placed but my position was still open. After 6 or 7 seconds, my order got executed and position closed. What is the reason for 7 seconds delay in order execution because in this time, price moved significantly (as I was trading at 9:18 am) ?

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hello Naman, the delay could be because of bandwidth utilization at your end. Hope you don’t have more than 30 scrips in your watchlist and other programs running. In the future, if you have such doubts, please double check in the order book before clicking on the flatten button multiple times.

Is there a video user manual of Fyers One and Fyers web ?

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hey that functionality is available on Fyers Web. Fyers One you can access the trading functionality by right-clicking on the chart and choosing Buy/Sell to activate the order placement window. Apologies for the late response. Been busy launching some updates on Fyers Web.

However it is missing very important feature i.e bracket order and cover order for stock future. I hope the same shall be introduced ASAP so that I can open trading account immediately.

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hello Deepak, Yes we don’t yet have BO/CO orders. However, they are under implementation and will be done soon. I suggest you open an account with us and get started. There are a lot of other features which can improve your decision making in the interim.

I have used fyersone, web, markets in last week
While buying In fyers web I could see the best 5 buy/ sell price close to market where I can see that?
If I want to buy at market price how do I know if the quantity I require is available at that price in the market where can I call that on fyers one ?

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Thanks Gautham. Yes, we have received a lot of requests for BO/CO orders. What you are referring to is DOM (Depth of Market) in a price ladder format. That is exclusively available in Fyers Web. To check bid/offers in Fyers One, you can do 2 things:

      1. Right click on any scrip and select “Market by Price” OR
      2. Use the shortcut key “F6 button” on your keyboard.

  • Avatar AMIT KUMAR PANDEY says:

sir is there any way to put stoploss in positional trading?

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Amit, the best way to place a stop loss for positional trades is by buying options. For example, if you have bought a stock and expect it to go up, then buying an OTM put option makes sense & vice versa (If you are short, then buying an OTM call option makes sense). The other way to do it is by manually placing stop losses everyday. Overnight stop losses (GTC – Good Till Cancelled) are not allowed on Indian exchanges as of now.

    Hi Tejas,
Whats the latest version of Fyers .FyerOne or FyersOneX.I cant see Active FnO contracts in neither of them.I remember i could see some time back.

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hi Sudheer the latest version is Fyers One X. We have de-activated active FnO contracts because it was utilizing excessive bandwidth. We’re re-working on this and figuring out a way to use it without utilizing excessive bandwidth.

      • Avatar sudheers says:

Ok.Thanks for the reply. Its a very useful tool,so request you add it back at the earliest.Though we can get this data from other sources, its good to have all at one place.:)

      • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Giving all data in one place is our motive too. We know how cumbersome it is to shift between sites and different portals.

  • Avatar AMIT KUMAR PANDEY says:

thanks sir. if you really think that my suggestion is good than pls add this feature in your upcoming updates.

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

We’ll try and incorporate this on our upcoming web trding platform when it’s possible. It is a priority item for sure.

  • Avatar AMIT KUMAR PANDEY says:

sir i have a suggestion , if you like pls implement it:-
it will be good if Buy/Sell entry screen start showing 2 more option i.e, Leverage Provided And Margin Blocked for that particular order.
it will shave a lot of time as we don’t have to visit your website for this.
And also pls start showing MTM on main window i.e, on workspace .

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

This is a really good suggestion. Thanks.. and with regards to the MTM, we are upgrading the Net positions window to only show relevant fields and columns. This is in the making and we’ll give the update by today or tomorrow on Fyers One.

  • Avatar AMIT KUMAR PANDEY says:

call and trade is very rare as almost everyone has access to internet, even presently people also backed by mobile broadband(with the significantly reduction in data charges) so the chances of call and trade even at the time of network failure is very low as backed by 2 broadband connection (home+mobile broadband). so even if you start charging for call and trade doesn’t create major impact on your customer Bcz charges which we daily face is the brokerage not call and trade.
also one of your pluspoint which you mentioned earlier like a/c opening etc are one time, bcz if you offer good service and platform customers will not mind paying this one time fee and even almost every broker (including full service brokers) are offering free a/c opening.
SO with due respect i advice you to reduce those charges which have direct impact on trading.
BUT keeping every other thing aside i am a great fan your trading platform, which is the only thing that forced me to choose fyers as my broker
    Regards;
    Amit

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

True A/c opening charges are one time but we don’t constrict entry and take up the acquisition cost ourselves. Most brokers do not provide free account opening facility. Notice the (conditions apply * mark). With regards to call & trade, we have received feedback that it is annoying + discourages clients to get in touch with the broker. But thanks for giving us your opinions. We respect it and glad you like our trading platforms.

  • Avatar AMIT KUMAR PANDEY says:

okay sir. But pls rethink about it bcz it is much higher than the indusrty average(discount brokers). Bcz if you offer the best product it will automatically attract new customers and thus increasing volume will help you to achieve your target.Instead of charging the whole from divide it b/w your customers.
This is my personal view, pls don’t mind bcz at the time when i first heard about Fyers i just ignored it after seeing the upper limit of rs.100 as brokerage as all other are offering 1/5 of yours or even less than that.
For a daytrader nothing is more attracting than a low brokerage .

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Hi Amit, we get it. But if you look at the consolidated charges, you will know that we are at par or lower at tiimes too. For instance, if you call other discount brokers a few times a day for trading, you’d get charged ₹20 each time thereby increasing your per order transaction cost. We don’t charge and also, we don’t have an onbroading cost that others charge their clients.

  • Avatar AMIT KUMAR PANDEY says:

you offer many more things than any other discount broker, BUT why your Brokerage upper limit (Rs.100) is much higher than the industry standard of RS.20?
Can you pls reduce it ?

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Yes, we believe in offering more services for a price range of 0 to 100 per transaction. On a large scale, it allows us to provide superior quality products and platforms. Unlike other discount brokers, we don’t charge for A/c opening, Call & Trade, hidden transaction charges. We want to be transparent and charge in fewer places. We don’t want to be the cheapest, we want to be the best. That’s why we are this way.

  • Avatar AMIT KUMAR PANDEY says:

Tejas sir , if we use square-off option and put a limit price, even that it will require additional margin?

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Yes, you’d have to cancel the existing limit order and hit the square off button or convert the limit order into market. It’s the same thing.

  • Avatar AMIT KUMAR PANDEY says:

SIR if have a long position on any stock and if i place a SL-M order and sell limit order , will this 2 orders requires margin?

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Yes Amit. The SL-M order does not require additional margin but the sell limit order will be treated as an extra order hence additional margin will be required.

  • Avatar AMIT KUMAR PANDEY says:

pls lauch it soon sir bcz during high voltality till we move to your takeprofitstoploss option the price may move towards opposite direction.

  • Avatar AMIT KUMAR PANDEY says:

thanks sir for responding so soon. you are really taking care of your customers ; hoping you will take care of your customer in future also.
and sir i m specially waiting for bracket and cover order. pls launch it soon

    • Tejas Khoday Tejas Khoday says:

Thanks Aamit, that’s our job and we take it seriously. We will launch it as soon as possible. Currently, we’re working on something nice. We’ll notify all our clients when we come up with it.

  • Avatar AMIT KUMAR PANDEY says:

does TakeStopLossProfit order give more leverage like bracket order?

  • Avatar Trinadh says:

@Saravana: Currently Bracket order, basket order and multi legs are not available on Fyers One. These order types will be available soon. We have trailing stoploss and Take stoploss-profit orders with similar functionality.

  • Avatar amit says:

sir how to place a bracket order / cover order in FyersOneX?
and i also request you to improve your web trading platform and i think your crosshair function in FyersOneX doesn’t work correctly.
    and sorry to say-
In my opinion FyersOneX is the only plus point to choose fyers as you are broker of (1) NSE only,(2) backoffice and webtrading is far behind zerodha ,(3) brokerage upper limit is very high as compare to other discount broker.
But i really like your FyersOneX.
hope you will try to improve it.

  • Avatar SARAVANA PERUMAL D says:

    Hi Tejas,

The bracket order, cover order, basker order and multi leg orders are available on fyers one. it’s not shown on the screen shot of trade tab.

    Thanks in advance.
