An honest review after using Fyers

I have recently created an account in Fyers. I have been using fyers for more than a week now and I can say I am mostly pleased. I just want to get used to it before I use fyers for regular trading.

However there are few observations that I will highlight later in the content.

I must confess, you and your team are making an awesome attempt to bring real traders close to the charts by providing TradingView experience. I should say, this makes Fyers unique and stand out in the stock broking sector. However, I will highlight a few points that I have observed so far, hope you and your team will look into it. I can understand that, nothing 100% error free. But few basic features and core USP should be working always.

Onboarding Email

  • I personally faced this issue, didn't get any onboarding email or credentials, and had to reach out to support teams. However, these kinds of issues are all over throughout your twitter group faced by other retail traders. This needs to be automated, Probably, a simple CRM tool with some automation triggers might help you close this gap. Nonetheless, your team knows better how to fix it.

Email Experience

  • The email experience is good in Gmail but does not fit well in yahoo mail. Do check that if possible. The fyers logo and social media icons are all over the place. The Email templates are not responsive at all for Yahoo Mail.
  • This happens for the mails coming from '[email protected]' for the below mentioned subject line
    • Subject Line: FYERS API-App Granted Approval, Password Successfully Changed, Forgot Password

Mobile Platforms

  • I am using the iOS version of the app. The app is ok. However, a revamped UI/UX version of the application would be nice to have. I have not used the iOS app that much, so cannot comment extensively.
     

Web Platforms

Fantastic work on the web platforms. Everything you and your team have been doing. I really appreciate the work. Kudos to the whole team. However there are few things highlighted below.
 

Must Have

  • Please Fix the server issues. I can understand it happens when there is large traffic coming into the platform. But you need to look into it immediately. Probably a server with more threads and load balancing techniques should be there. like the NGINX server. It's a pain point for us and I can see it's been an issue for other retail traders as well on twitter. If charts is the main USP of Fyers, it should be working always 100%. We do not expect the statement like 'We will fix it, sorry for the inconvenience'. Issues of similar traits happening again and again loses faith in the platform where money is involved.
    • Sometimes, Charts do not update accordingly.
    • Sometimes, Charts hang mostly, if there are sudden spikes in prices / volumes. Mostly in lower timeframes. (1 Min)
    • Sometimes, for a particular Option/Index - Charts wipes out for a specific timeframe. But works well on other timeframes. After some time, it gets resolved automatically.
    • Sometimes, the default watchlist provided by fyers wipes out. It comes after multiple reloads.
  • Indicators
    • Kindly include a CPR indicator. I can understand, you are leveraging the TradingView's existing platform, and on top of it you are customizing, but if possible try to incorporate CPR asap. reach out to them to incorporate CPR. or you can enable the possibility of adding custom indicators using pine script. Just like tradingview has.
  • Kindly give the ability to Flag stocks in watchlists - Like red, green, blue etc, just like tradingview.
  • Basket Order -- Available margin and required margin required after hedging needs to be displayed for ease of computing.
  • Ability to save templates for drawing tools. It's there in the wizard, but nothing happens when I create a new template.
  • GTT order - It's a must have and a basic necessity. Please incorporate GTT orders.

Should Have

  • A Trading Journal - No stock brokers have implemented it yet in their own portal. This could be another USP if incorporated. However, this is just an opinion. This will be very helpful for traders to figure out their mistakes and calculate their win rate, position sizing, etc. I think you get the idea.
  • Collaborating with Sensibull or creating something alike. OptionDesk is more complex and not user friendly.
  • BackOffice - It is good, but it is slow, Again looks like a problem while fetching data while querying a large database. Please optimize that.
  • If possible - Setting Alert in the same window without navigating to the alert page. Just like you did for the option chain.
  • Caching last scrip and time frame - Every Time the fyers chart opens with 1 min and Nifty Index. then switches back. The problem is that, 1 min time frame remains besides the starred timeframe, even if you have not selected the 1 min time frame. It should open with the saved data - Symbols as well as timeframe, from where the user closed the browser after saving.

Could Have

  • Some Indication for holding/portfolio stocks in watchlist, just like you have for intraday. (Like: S or L besides stocks). This helps for swing / positional traders.

Retaining an existing user is as difficult as New User acquisition or user activation, as there are other alternatives out there in the market. I can understand, the teams are working tirelessly to fix the issues over the support portal and actively fixing issues over twitter. I can also understand that Fyers works on user feedback and works upon it. However, I have high hopes in Fyers, and I hope the above points that I have highlighted above will be looked upon and resolved / incorporated.

I do not want to sound harsh, those are my honest opinions, just wanted to share with you and your team before I can use fyers at full throttle.
